So, you’re on the hunt for a new software development provider? We’re delighted that you found Atlas.

As your potential software partner, it’s in our interests to understand your business and its objectives before we get technical. When you first get in touch with us, we’ll usually arrange a quick call to start with, and these are the questions you can expect us to raise which ensure we understand your business objectives and can add value from day one.

Questions we’ll typically ask a new customer building a brand new software solution

Do you have a pre-existing deadline we should be mindful of?

What is your budget?

A quick note on this. Many customers are concerned that if they tell us their budget, we’ll take that entire sum no matter what. That’s not the case. We’re typically only interested in building a small phase of a project at the outset of our new relationship with you. We want you to get to know us, and vice versa and would much rather build a long term relationship than make a quick pound or two.

Do you already have a functional specification or high level brief for the project that you can provide us?

We can help you with your requirements gathering, just get in touch.

Do you use an existing system?

If yes:

  • Do you require us to copy all or part of the existing system?
  • Do you require us to import data from the old system?
  • Does the system we will be building need to communicate or integrate with the existing system? If so, how?
  • Does the old system integrate with any 3rd party software? If so, what information can you provide?

Where would you like the new software solution to be hosted?

Do you plan to test the system yourself or would you like to take advantage of our testing expertise?

Will you require ongoing support?

Do you require a signed NDA?

How many customers are currently using this product?

How do you currently backup your application?

Is there any documentation for the application that you can provide us?

Are there any issues you found with the way your previous partner worked with you that you would like us to be mindful of?
