Enhance your customer relationships by providing them with a customer portal that offers fast, secure access to projects, calendars and the ability to self-serve
We have created customer portals for numerous businesses across a range of industries, and all of them agree that giving customers access to real-time useful information sets them apart from their competitors and gives them a competitive advantage. In fact, they usually wonder why they didn’t create a customer portal sooner.
A customer portal provides a dedicated digital channel devoted to the specific needs of your customers. It provides them with real-time, accurate information that is aligned with the data they care about.
Examples of how a customer portal can give businesses an advantage include:
- A solicitor that uses a customer portal to provide their customers with updates on the progress of a case, and a secure platform to instant message the solicitor working on the case.
- An estate agent that provides progress updates via a dedicated customer portal.
- A manufacturer of ball bearings that allows customers to place orders quickly and securely on their dedicated customer portal, and track order progress.
- A water maintenance company that provides commercial customers with a reporting interface so they can be sure that they’re always on top of their water maintenance schedule.
- A pizza delivery company that provides the status of a customer’s order (a la Dominos!)
In the past ten years we have created many customer portals, and our customers are always delighted with the improvement they see in their customer relationships.
You might already have come across some related technical terms in this context. The first of these is Extranet – which is for sharing information with specific external parties, and then there is intranet – to do with sharing information internally with employees.
With a customer portal interaction and collaboration become so much more straightforward. Some users have described the feeling of proximity it creates as being akin to working in the same building.
Security by design
Sometimes a customer portal will contain sensitive information. As such we build all of our solutions, including customer portals, with security in mind by design.
The customer portal itself uses Microsoft best practice for security, ensuring that user logins use passwords that are sufficiently complex. We can add an additional layer of security in the form of two factor authentication if necessary.
Encryption identical to that in use by various online banking facilities is equally a standard offering. This means your customers have the peace of mind of the web browser “padlock” they’re used to seeing on websites that contain potentially sensitive data.
We can take encryption a step further in most cases, and encrypt the data “at rest”, while it sits on your servers. This ensures that if in the unlikely event somebody were to gain access to your database, its contents would be worthless to them as all the data in the database is encrypted.
Your Customer Portal
No two businesses are exactly alike, and therefore no two customer portals would be identical.
Before we write a single line of code, we’ll sit down with you to understand your business, its customers and your objectives. Only with this understanding can we then work with you to build out the requirements for a customer portal.
There’s no limit to the functionality that we can build, as per the examples above the uses are wide ranging. To kick start your idea generation process, we’ll talk about various features your customers might benefit from including:
- Secure messaging
- Massive searchable information storage
- Calendar and scheduling workflows
- Project management tools and information updates
- Real-time notifications
- Powerful dynamic report generation
- Integration with web apps, mobile apps and any other systems you might already use
