As a member of the Atlas development team you’ll be responsible for helping deliver high-quality bespoke web software on time and within budget. Working both as an individual and within a team, you will contribute throughout the full development life-cycle for both new and ongoing projects.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Working as part of the development team, reporting to Development Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant degree-level qualification or 2+ years commercial experience in a similar role.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
What we’re looking for in you:
- Expertise in web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
- Expertise in client-side scripting using JavaScript, including jQuery
- Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and workarounds
- Good understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
- Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as Vue.js, AngularJS, Knockout, Backbone.js, React.
- Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
- An understanding of back-end development languages. Ideally C# and ASP.NET, but PHP or other languages will be considered
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, particularly Git
- Any web design/UX experience is beneficial but not required
- At least 2 years commercial experience
- A commitment to your own personal development and improvement
- Self-directed, self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with minimal oversight
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Take ownership of front end development working with the wider team to:
- Create mockups and prototypes of proposed new web systems and changes to existing software systems
- Assist our existing team with the delivery of front end elements
- Quickly and efficiently track down front end issues and apply intelligent fixes
- Co-ordinate with other developers the delivery of application code with a particular focus on the delivery of front end elements
