LOCATION
We are located in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. You’ll need to travel from time to time in order to visit customers when gathering requirements.

Degree level qualification or equal experience in a related subject or field.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Specific skills we require from a potential candidate:
An ability to clearly and precisely translate business requirements into documented requirements using a range of documentation types as required for the project and its audience (User stories, technical specifications, wireframes, UML, workflows and so on)
- Good understanding and experience of Business Analysis methodologies
- Good understanding and experience of the software development lifecycle and the importance of comprehensive requirements gathering
- Experience of product specification and development within commercial software development
- Attention to detail and ability to appropriately challenge vague statements
- Facilitation and interpersonal skills that allow for positive relationships working in partnership with internal and external project stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Extremely organised with strong time-management skills
- Microsoft Access and/or SQL experience preferred but not essential
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will oversee the requirements gathering and specifications on a range of software development projects which includes Atlas’ own software products Fundipedia, Staff Squared and Atlas BarCode and a range of customer software projects.
You will have the business analysis skills and commercial acumen to understand the business need and translate this into business requirements, documenting these in a way that is meaningful to your audience which could range from software developers to non-technical customers.
Working with Atlas’ project manager, senior QA analyst, and specific project leads you will rely on the experience you have gained in your career to date to improve Atlas’ approach to requirements gathering and positively impact the way in which we define, develop and QA software projects.
Other key duties and responsibilities include:
- Facilitate the scoping and requirements gathering sessions with internal stakeholders, project team members or third parties as applicable
- Work proactively with other Atlas team members to ensure integrity and robustness of proposed solutions
- Demonstrate innovation in approach to solutions development
- Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing requirements documents
- Support customer UAT as required, ensuring robustness of test plans, and execution methodologies
- Adhere to project and change methodologies, including:
- Product requirements and specification documentation
- UAT standards and documentation
- Change management and release sign-off protocols * Develop strong stakeholder relationships and maintain effective communication channels to maximise success in delivery
- Recommend controls by identifying problems; defining and documenting improved procedures
- Assist our PM in the definition of project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
- Evolve Atlas’ cost estimate models to continue to improve the mechanisms we use to estimate internal and customer software projects
- Responsible for the maintenance of Requirements artefacts in line with any change control mechanisms
- Initiate regular reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
- Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes
- Assist in the evolution and improvement of internal systems as required
- Suggest changes using analytics to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
- Support other team members in using advanced Business Analysis techniques
- Help define and evolve requirement gathering techniques and models adopted by Atlas
- Support the Sales Manager in identifying areas of opportunity and risk, and in producing effective project proposals
