Software Development Project Manager

As a member of the Atlas development team you’ll be responsible for the delivery of high-quality bespoke software on time and within budget. You’ll be responsible for project planning and will drive the full development life-cycle for both new and ongoing projects. In addition, you will ensure processes and procedures are applied, updated and created as necessary.


The project manager will act as an escalation point for Project Managers/personnel and will be provide hands on assistance for all projects.

In addition, you will be required to have a full understanding of the portfolio of Products and Services the business has to offer, therefore the candidate must be confident presenting in front of customers and up-selling these products and services, ensuring it will be mutually beneficial for both customer and company.


The role reports to the management team and sits underneath the director.


As a project manager in Atlas you will be expected to:

  • Successfully manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Rally the wider team to ensure that our software solutions are of the highest quality whilst being delivered in a timely, organised and efficient manner
  • Maintain and improve procedures and standards, using software as a tool to achieve this aim
  • Recommend and make improvements to procedures and processes
  • Work with the development manager to manage schedules and resource efficiently
  • Build positive, open, long term relationships with Atlas’ wide range of customers
  • Provide effective project reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Advocate the ways Atlas can improve the quality of the services it provides

Deliver the highest standards of project management by:

  • Completing and reviewing/renewing client contracts
  • Driving an effective requirements gathering process including
    • Working with colleagues and customers to ensure that requirements are clearly communicated and when agreed, properly documented
    • Working with the wider technical team to ensure that user requirements are understood and well communicated to the development team
  • Ensuring that changes to customer requirements are properly agreed, communicated and that a comprehensive audit trail exists at all times
  • Assisting with workshops to investigate users’ requirements and complex business issues
  • Ensuring that customers provide information and feedback in a manner that supports the agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining the highest standards of transparency and communication with our customers
  • Liaising with and driving the technical team to ensure that key deliverables are met within the timescales expected
  • Aiding the flow of communication between the development and testing team to ensure that the team is fully aligned
  • Supplying accurate and reliable project reporting to key stakeholders in the form of budget and performance reports, sprint analysis, burndown charts and so on
  • Identifying and mitigating project risk and keeping risk registers up to date and well communicated


The ideal candidate will have practical experience in a similar position for a technical organisation. In addition:

  • Prince 2/Agile/Scrum/ITIL/Microsoft Office
  • Proven experience of managing a team/team leading/mentoring
  • Team working/spirit – able to motivate and encourage/fit in with others at all levels
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • Experience of delivering full lifecycle projects
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Possess outstanding communication skills – creating, developing relationships
  • Excellent decision making – able to make difficult, strategic decision in a fast paced pressurised environment
